Mr. Peacock's Ransom

This necklace has been submitted in competition.  The floral cabochon and rounded drop are made of orange and blue Yixing clay, which are part of my new ceramic bead collection.  After firing they are colored with layers of Vintaj patinas, sanded and polished.  It is attached to a Swellegant coated brass filigree.   The necklace has been designed to simply slip over your head and around your neck, without a clasp.  The soft leather strap rests around your neck.  The piece is adorned with wire-wrapped glass beads and dyed silk of peacock colors.  It will be listed for sale at  UrsyllaBs.etsy.com.

    1. Good Morning Kim - Thank you! - I also love flowers, I have a big perennial garden, but I think more than that, flowers remind me of my grandmother and when I was a little girl. She use to have a large garden and big flower beds, so my pieces have a bit of nostalgia for me. We spent a lot of time at her house when I was growing up. She just turned 92 in December and has a bit of dementia. My necklaces evolve around my memories of her and our shared love of gardening. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving a comment! - I hope you have a great day!

  2. Beautiful piece! You've combined all of your elements flawlessly. The leather strap with bejeweled connectors really changes the mood. I love it!

    1. Good Morning Re-maker - thank you for visiting my blog and your feedback, I appreciate it very much. I find it very challenging to incorporate different materials, textures and colors, and then to find a balance. The ceramic cabochons and beads are new for me; normally, I make utilitarian-ware using white stoneware. My inspiration comes from my grandmother and memories of my childhood gardening with her. Thank you so much - I hope you have a great day!
